Arkansas offers plenty of options for campers. One option you may be overlooking, however, when you're considering a place to camp in the state is the national park system. The state of Arkansas has a total of 52 national parks, and campers are welcome at 28 of them. These parks are spread through the state and perfect bases for hiking, fishing, scuba diving and more. Before you plan your camping trip to an Arkansas national park, there are a few things you should know. Reservations are not required, but they are accepted. During the high season, these sites can reach capacity quickly, so booking ahead can really pay. A maximum of eight people can stay on any one individual camp site, and a maximum of two tents per site can put up. You will be assigned a camp site upon arrival, although if you request a specific one, they will make an effort to accommodate you. An adult, 18 or older, must stay on each camp site - so you can't put the kids on one and you stay on another. Each park has its own additional rules and regulations, which you'll be informed of upon arrival.
